When King Nebuchadnezzar conquered Judah in 605 B.C., his empire was the greatest in the world. He brought educated, young, male Israelites like Daniel back to Babylon to serve in the king's palace. By Daniel Chapter 6, Daniel had so distinguished himself above the other administrators, that King Darius wanted to put him in charge of the entire kingdom. This didn't sit well with the culture as Daniel was not only a foreigner, but also a Jew. Pastor Chris tells the story of how jealous conspirators were able to trick the king into signing a decree that would ultimately fault Daniel for praying to the God of Israel.
